Casa Cravings: Interior Inspiration - Grey Stripes Around the House

Grey is surely having its moment. You literally see it everywhere but I haven't tired of this gorgeou hue. I wear it on a daily basis and am drawn towards it in home furnishings. I've recently been spying (and collecting) a massive growing selection of grey striped walls. Both chevron and good ol' stripes are present and I think this is a great option for dressing up a room without going through all the fuss that a wallpapered accent wall might bring (Mom, hope you're reading this?)

PS - And a special treat for those of you that have read this far down. We're thinking we might do an accent wall similar (but not exactly) to this theme in baby boy's nursery! We had a great striped wallpaper from Restoration Hardware but we're just not 'feelin it' for his room. So there you have it, a sneak peek at our nursery decor plan just because you're such an awesome reader! Woo hoo! See...it pays to be thorough, ha!

First Look: Interior Inspiration - Wallpapered Accent Wall

My Mom and I were recently exchanging emails and I was telling her how we were throwing around the idea of a wallpapered accent wall in Baby Boy's nursery. We've been talking about it since we first found out we were preggers but just weren't sure what 'look' we wanted. We've had two rolls of $50 wallpaper from Restoration Hardware that we, of course, scored at the outlet for $1.99 a roll a year ago. We were actually thinking about using it to line the shelves above our basket system in the tv room (see it HERE, the first pic) but have since decided to add an accent wall in lil' bub's nursery.

My Mom was also wanting/thinking about doing an accent wallpapered wall to her/their gorgeous dining room so I told her I'd pull a few inspirational images for use to both get going. Sometimes just seeing an image really kicks you in the pants for change. I really think this is a great way to add a huge pop of color and eye catching appeal. I'm a newbie to the world of wallpapering, so I might enlist my Mom's help when she's here for my shower...I think she's a pro at it, after all these years of awesome decor work. Mom, you in? Everyone, check out these images!

First Look: Interior Inspiration - Lonny Mag's 2011 July/August Issue

Sorry, I'm the biggest blogging slacker ever today! We're actually trying to figure out our, get this, BABY SHOWER date...so I've been on and off the phone and returning emails and it's just taken up so much time! You know, with sweet baby boy Cullen already throwing a wrench in our plans by arriving almost 2 weeks earlier than we thought, that ol' shower date had to be moved up!

Now, I'm happy to hunker down and finally get to today's post which rocks my world. LOVE me some Lonny Magazine! Seriously, if you don't head over and look at their site right now, I just don't know if we can be friends anymore, ha! I'm highlighting some of my fave pages from their spread (there's 287 pages of designer goodness, so be sure to go spy some of your own ideas) that I find inspiring and gorgeous!

PS - Have a safe and wonderful weekend. We'll be gettin' down to business with some mega baby deal hunting at our local outlet mall. Our hope is to get better acquainted with baby 'needs' and 'wants' and really learn what brands/stores we really love! Believe me, if you're a Mom and an avid CasaCullen fan, I will be polling you for your fave baby products sometime next week! Get ready for that, I want your input!

   Rsz_11_-_cover_of_lonny_magazine

Hand painting a rug with those stripes would be a super easy weekend DIY!

2 - lonny magazine

You know how much I love statement entryways and these tables ROCK!

3 - lonny magazine

One of Gwennie's recipes from her new book...I thought it sounded super fresh and yum for summer!

4 - lonny magazine

One day, one day...we will have some outdoor seating element hanging inside our house! I don't know why I'm obsessed with this look, I just am! Hmm, a hammock in baby boy's room?

5 - lonny magazine

Florence, one of our fave cities in the world! (on the left)

5 1 - lonny magazine

Love me some Moroccan flair...that pillow on the bottom left, I die!

6 - lonny magazine

Santorini...how I'd love to go back there! And their style = impeccable, indeed!

7 - lonny magazine

Wall color = supreme! I love really moody rooms like this, though we usually opt for light and bright!

8 - lonny magazine

Everything is so EPIC about the left room. The colors, furnishings, splash of gold and white antlers...many of these trends have been over-done but together they just work against that dark/stormy background!

9 - lonny magazine

I'm in heaven...this eclectic/boho mix is right up my alley!

10 - lonny magazine

Such a great color combo and that huge tufted bench ottoman at the end of the bed...that's precisely what we envision building at the foot of ours! One day!

11 - lonny magazine

Stripes but not yikes...cause I adore them! This is totally a thought for the nursery, even if just for ONE WALL! Love this! And these colors would be perfect for a little girls room too, for all those Mothers of daughters out there!

12 - lonny magazine

Walt is a huge fan of all white but once we decided kids were in our future, we've realized that it's really not a) economical or b) feasible. But, it's always pretty to look at!

13 - lonny magazine

A great idea for a makeshift art collection...you could trade out pieces as you tire of them!

14 - lonny magazine

Walt hates ghost chairs and I love them! These stools steal the show for me and he'd just roll his eyes! It's one of those design elements we totally don't agree on!

15 - lonny magazine

How easy this would be to do with paint! Stop right at the chair rail and then paint another really thin line above your bottom color...LOVE THIS!

16 - lonny magazine

I love how the entire shelving interior of this bookcase is BLACK! So bold and unexpected and it really allows all the whites to pop! A great idea for a bookshelf that's blah or bland in your home!

Interior (Outdoor) Inspiration: DEDON Catalog and Furniture

Interior (Outdoor) Inspiration - DEDON Catalog and Furniture - 2c06b7ddcd

One of the most amazing marketing campaigns I know of, DEDON surely creates a sense of vacating everyday, mundane life for the adventure of outdoor living. Known as the world's premier outdoor furniture brand, my sister recently turned me on to their catalog. Once I flipped open the first page (which you can order online, for free) I knew this was a brand/image making company that I had to share with you.

In addition to their website, we've spent quite a bit of time watching many of their Youtube videos HERE. Their story captivates HERE and their social responsibility activism and green living aspect also impresses. Just feast your eyes on their captivating imagery below and make sure to head over to their site HERE for more great photos. One day, when we win the lottery, we'll outfit our entire outdoor space in DEDON, mark our words!

Interior (Uh, Exterior) Inspiration: Real Backyard Decks that Rock

Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a gorgeously designed and professionally built deck. I also drool over pictures of gorgeous landscape and perfect backyards. But let's just get honest and be realistic here, we're DIY lovers...we'll tackle the project on our own. So there's something seriously appealing about these decks, built by everyday people that I love.

Many of these images are from DIY Network's Rate My Space link HERE. It's a great place for anyone to upload their photos and exchange ideas with other like-minded DIY enthusiasts. We were checking out some deck images (I have a hunch we might be building one, finally, this year) and I just wanted to share some of our fave options below. Enjoy!

Interior Inspiration: Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms

So we've been spending hours pouring over pictures trying to figure out what design angle we want to take on our master bedroom. You saw the freshly painted frosty blue walls HERE but we're totally at a standstill. All black furniture? All white furniture? Bright blue accents or moody navy? Do we want to pull in some pastels or just combine layers of white textures for the bedding? Yeah, we've chatted about it all!

After CC Hubby's eyes turned bloodshot the other night from glancing at the computer, I told him to give it a rest. The next night we whittled down over 25 pics to our top six favorites below. We agreed that a serene, relaxing and airy space is most important to both of us. We both love the combo of blues, creams, greys and whites. We also don't think the furniture needs to be from a set but maybe a more collected feel.

Our Current List of Master Bedroom Needs/Wants:

- A full length mirror (ahhhh, I totally can't wait!)

- A seating option/ottoman for the end of the bed

- A headboard or entirely new bed (finally!)

- Another dresser and then possibly paint CC Hubby's current dresser (see it HERE)

- New nightstand options with much better storage

- New window dressings/drapes and white wooden blinds

- And if we can manage...a little reading nook too (Hubster is a voracious reader!)

So there you have it, sweet readers. This is where we are with the master bedroom rehaul. We're hoping for another Four Hands Home warehouse sale in the near future to scoop up a few new pieces. Let me expalin what stands out in the images below and we tried to be true to form and pick rooms that currently have a similar paint color on the wall. Read on for why we love these gorgeous interiors.

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 1

Stunning and eye catching, all the textures and white tones create a look that's easy to emulate and so liveable too. I love the grand painting and those panels are awesome too. The clear nightstands aid to the airy feel and Hubby is in love with a low/modern bed. I don't know if I'm sold on that option yet. Why? Because the bed only looks good when everything is perfectly made. Let's be honest, we try to make our bed everyday but it just doesn't happen all the time.

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 2

This is one of my favorite. I love the warmth coming from all the gilded accents and the mirrored nightstands just scream ME. But, per our usual, this was Hubby's least favorite of the bunch so we'll have to compromise for sure. I also adore those foot-stools too because I'm a girl that loves a striking animal print, in fashion and furnishings.

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 3

This was a combined fave...we both totally adore this! The window panels grabbed our attention right away and hubby loved the oversized house plant. I love the architectural feel of those massive table lamps and how about those nightstands? We think the idea of a table is tres chic but we need added storage so that's not for us. We also totally dig the subtle linens and gorgeous headboard combo.

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 4

All white bedding and a regal headboard combine for a striking combo. Hubby didn't love the chair and bench combo, but that was one of my favorite parts. The cow (maybe?) hide area rug would be a stretch for us, as I think I'd opt for a white shag version in its place. We do love all the dreamy, creamy white but you'll notice, those walls are also white, so that's not really like our room. Hmmm...

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 5

Mmm is right! It's almost like every image is just spectacular and amazing. We love the ottoman with the double storage and the nightstands actually look like re-finished antiques which is right up our alley. They also have gobs of storage which we love because we're always Team Storage! That painting, side wall art, reading lamps and white linens are totally what we're after. The grey curtains are again a recurring element we're digging too. Hmm, this might be a front runner!

Serene and Relaxing Master Bedrooms - 6

Another one of our first glace favorites, of course Hubby was all about that platform bed but just look at how well made it is. See, that's what I'm saying...platform beds, though striking, might not be super user friendly. Also, these walls are white and not a light blue like our walls but we love all the natural elements at play in this space. The stool at the end of the bed has me drooling and the leaning full length mirror is a) exactly what we're looking for and b) since it's leaning, will make everyone look great everyday, ha!

So do share, awesome readers...which layout/room is your favorite?
