I recently traveled with Nash back to Vero Beach, Florida, my hometown. I brought my friend Mel (from I Heart Photography) with me and her sweet son Jude. Jude is only seven weeks younger than Nash and they are really good baby buds. We all four crashed at my parents home and beached it up all week long. Now, I'll have you know that lugging two big baby boys all around the area beaches was no easy feat. We even opted out of the beach for a few days (the sand was getting on our last nerves) and just went to the pool instead.
We had a week filled with lots of laughter, home cooked meals (thanks Momma) and early to bed/early to rise looooooong days. Both boys were in the thick of a teething spell and Nash even got three top teeth while we were there. Fun, fun. Mel and I really missed Chase and Walt so much too. We came to the realization that traveling without our husbands isn't the easiest thing and when you add another baby/Momma combo into the mix...it's actually kind of crazy.
Mel is heading on an adventure with another baby/Momma combo trip pretty soon but she'll also have two baby-less friends along for the ride. Suh-weet! Sometimes you just forget how pivotal an extra set of hands really is. I'm glad we weathered this trip before her next one because it'll be easy peasy with those two extra set of hands.
I'm really proud of Mel and I for laughing through some of the hilarity, absurdity and sleepless nights. You really can't travel with just 'anyone' and Mel and I now know we are two peas in a laid back pod as far as travel goes. We've even made a pact that we'll trek somewhere, once a year, with our little nuggets, even if it's just for a long weekend. Below are some of my favorite captured images from our time in Vero. What a special, special week it was.
PS - My good friend Amy over at The Bake Cakery has even asked for a detailed post with any travel pointers for flying with a nugget. Since this was Nash's third round trip trek (half of those flights have been just me and Nash) I do think I'll try to whip up a post on this in the next few days. If you have any flying/travel pointers of your own, get em ready...as I'd love to hear from you!
