We love hearing from our readers and today's post features my brother Beckett and his girlfriend Ediz...and some of the awesome DIY projects they've recently tackled together. So many great and ingenious ideas in this round up, we know you'll enjoy! We've already previously featured Ediz's handiwork in THIS creative post about what to do with broken mirror pieces. Surely something so adorable will take away that bad luck streak, right? Hearing straight from Ediz, in italics, below:
Where We've Been Map:
I found this framed cork board at a thrift store for $15 (seriously, lucky find) and then ordered an antique style map poster. I used spray adhesive to paste the map poster onto the cork board and then ordered color push pins to use as our markers.
We chose Florida Gator colors! All the places Beck has been to are blue, all the places I have been to are orange and all the places we have both been to are white.
Wood and PVC Wine Rack:
Beck designed the layout for the wine rack using one 12 foot wood plank that was cut, stained and nailed into a frame to accommodate 8 wine bottle slots made from a pvc pipe cut into 8 pieces and spray painted black.
The pvc pipes are nailed to the wooden frame in the back.
Stamp Art Collage:
I found a lot of Indonesian stamps on ebay for $1.10 and used them to create color oriented collages. I found the frames at Marshall's for $4.99. I then glued the stamps based on color and size to the picture sample provided in the frame and voila!
'Book' Bookshelf:
I saw a similar idea on Apartment Therapy a while back and kept it in my DIY vault and LOVE the way they turned out. The project was fairly simple and just required books, screws and brackets. I found the books at a thrift store for $0.50 a piece then Beckett used a 1 inch screw to nail the brackets into the bottom book and then once mounted, I added the second book on top and decorated with these lanterns I picked up at Goodwill for $2.00 a piece!
