Personal Peek: Sneak Peek at the Start of Our Master Bedroom Makeover

1

So here's how it used to look. Yep, that's the same picture from our home decor resolutions post HERE. Make sure to re-read what our goals were for our master as we've already recently knocked out ONE of those...cha-ching!

2

Like I said, the light dookie brown walls and huge wardrobe have to go. They've frustrated me to no end in our master decor so in my best Trump impression I'm telling them, "You're fired!" Hubby got to work scraping all the popcorn off the ceiling and removed the fan. Did we opt to paint that one too? You better believe it! We also cleared out most of the room and covered remaining furniture with painting throws.

3

Patch, patch, patch it up! Hubby worked his patching magic covering all the holes and dents in the ceiling to give us a smooth and gorgeous 'after!'

4

Wardrobe removal was next on our to-do list and CC Hubby had that puppy down and out in T-minus 5 minutes. An impressive feat, the man has mega brain AND brawn.

5

Primetime and prime(r) time! CC Hubby is awarded the best DIY'er ever with this here task. That man was in the master priming all evening while one of the biggest/bestest football games had over 27.3 million viewers glued to their screens. I spent most of my time tweeting with Jessica Seinfeld about the amazing Oregon uniforms by Nike. Anyways, no need to name drop, back to the point at hand! Mega kudos to the Hubster for being so diligent in his painting regimen. He caught the last 15 minutes of the game which were the most exciting anyways.

6

Ok this might've been the best new year gift we've ever gotten. We popped into Home Depot just to 'look' at color options and to our surprise, they are discontinuing their Freshaire line (that we love) because, thankfully, all mainstream paint is now low-VOC. We loved Freshaire and we were thrilled to scoop up 9 gallons (yep, 9) for only $10 a pop. Make sure to call your local Home Depot and find out if they have any more for sale. I'm sure it went quick, that's why we grabbed -N-I-N-E!

7

We're giving away top secrets as you can kinda see a bit of a color on the wall in the first pic, eeeek! We aren't dare giving away any color schemes yet but we did venture into Frogtape territory and really liked the results. The regular old blue painters tape has been known to rip old paint off of our walls (ugh) so we are happy to report that Frogtape didn't do that. Also, we painted our master potty room a whole different color for a sweet little pop when you open the door.

8

Lastly, I'm so (and I mean so) over the grotty yellow light sockets and switches all over our home. We're hoping to slowly switch all of these out in 2011, starting with our master suite. We have numerous all white switches so it makes the glaring fugly yellow ones just stand out, that much more. I'll be sure to show you at a later date how seamlessly our white switches look and how to switch out your own.

For now, you'll just have to hold tight and wait on our next update to see the a) color we chose for our master suite and b) huge decor changes we're implementing. Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!
