This gadget is not ours. I know, right...darn it! We recently babysat THESE cutie pie little monkeys and their parents told us to arrive hungry for dinner. They had a chicken kickin' it in this Oster Carousel Rotisserie and we were instantly smitten. The chicken was 'fall off the bone' good and beyond moist (that one's for you, Lee!) We knew we had to get our grubs on this gadget and give it a try ourselves. We asked the Cotter crew if we could borrow it and put this puppy to work.
What it produces is the most amazing rotisserie chicken you've ever tasted! We are not joking around, people. The clincher for this product and why we want one n-o-w? We can buy organic/all-natural chickens instead of just picking up that rotisserie goodness that's been roasting under the heating lamps (possibly all day long) at our local supermarket. That, though tasty, is no bueno. Read on, readers for a photo recap and some great options for purchase.
Doesn't take a genius to figure out the settings, they're right there in plain sight. We had a 5lb. chicken so hubby put it close to 60 minutes and we walked away. Easy as pie!
Mmmmm, check out that roasted goodness just turn, turn, turnin' around!
Yeah, yeah...I knew you'd ask. So the recipe for that delish rub is above. I was actually at the Dr's that very day when I came across a great rub recipe in a healthy eating magazine. Instead of ripping out the page, which I've been known to do (insert slap on wrist), I whipped out my camera and snapped a picture. I referenced the easy recipe later and hubby got to work combining the ingredients.
Here's the awesome after. I'm a half skin on, half skin off, kinda girl. You can see the yummy crispy skin above and the tender chicken goodness. Seriously, you will be so happy you invested in such a great gadget. We paired our chicken with boiled beets and my homemade rice and veggies.
Yep, with a 5lb. bird we had tons of leftovers. Who doesn't like leftover chicken? We made burritos the following night and chicken pot pie later in the week. We also froze some leftover chicken and my veggie rice. Just tonight, we threw it in a pot with some organic chicken stock and it made some delish soup!
Cha-ching, the Oster Carousel Rotisserie earns 5 starts from the Cullen Crew. The sad part to this story? We have to return this great gadget to our good friends the Cotters in the near future. Boo hoo hoo...but thanks for letting us borrow it, y'all! It's obviously gotten some CasaCullen kitchen mileage in just a few days.
