Remember when we told you HERE that our aim this year is to make one baked good, every month? Yep, we've already kicked off that resolution to a great start with CC Hubby's (and my Dad's) favorite dessert; yellow cake with chocolate icing. We decided to start our week off on the right foot by baking this cake last night (Monday) and also watching our newest Netflix movie, Robin Hood.
I can honestly say I didn't make it past the first 30 minutes of the movie but totally enjoyed every morsel of my cake and ice cream dessert. Hubby was mainly the baker last night and I was very impressed with his icing skills. This cake was moist and perfect so totally worth the extra $1 at the grocery store. Just so you know, it really is such a treat to make a baked good for an everyday celebration...no really, try it. It's sure to make you smile!
When I saw this cake mix at the store I couldn't believe I'd never noticed it before. We're big Paula Deen fans and have never tried her box mixes. Now, we're sold! Totally worth the extra pennies.
Hubby is our mixer. I know, I know...we really need to at least get a hand mixer. I must say, he does look really cute doing it, though.
Skillz McGillz...Hubby is an awesome baker (which you've already witnessed HERE for Valentine's Day) so I let him take the chief kitchen reigns on this one and I'm just an Indian. Actually, scratch that, I didn't do a thing...this was all him. Go Hubby, go!
There is a great sense of pride after you completely ice an aesthetically appealing cake. He looks so proud back there, doesn't he?
Nom, nom, nom! Honestly, it's even sweeter on a 'school' night too!
Lucky pup, he always shares a bit of his with her. That Zola, she has a sweet tooth the size of Texas!
