Gadget Love: Our New Camera - The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS

Yeah, yeah...I know some of you may be like, 'Big whoop dee doo, a new camera, who cares'. Ummm, we sooooo do! Since we've been sporting THIS piece of work for about the last eight months, it was high time we saved and splurged on a new point and shoot. We've actually been saving for a while for a DSLR, but that'll take some time! We know how much we love the functionality and user-ability of a smaller point and shoot so insert exhibit A...our new Canon PowerShot.

Just for the record, this is the 6th PowerShot we've purchased since being married. You'd be amazed at all the ways we've actually broken our cameras. We've jumped overboard in the Caribbean with our camera in a 'waterproof' but not 'water-resistant' case. We've dropped another one in a cup of water in the CasaCullen kitchen. THIS one, though still usable, was our back-up camera that had a smooshed screen as a result of hubby's cargo pocket on a roller coaster at Busch Gardens. So needless to say, we are not easy on our cameras, at all.

At first glance I was totally sold on the idea of THIS camera and I was pretty sure this was the winner, winner, chicken dinner for us. It's indestructible, water resistant (up to 33 feet) and can withstand any drop under 6 feet. Yep, that's sounds about right. But the more research I did and just knowing our devout love of all things Canon, I realized I'd be paying $100 more for a camera that has a sub-par lens and capture ability to the newest PowerShot model.

If reading camera reviews is your thing, HERE's a great one on our new camera and HERE's the one that sold us on the quality, user friendly and high-tech options this lil' bugger gives you! One of our favorite functions is the fact that you don't have to manually set the macro function for super close pictures. It automatically realizes you want a macro picture when you're super close to an object. We use macro settings on a daily basis to capture our food imagery around the house for all our weekly recipes.

We'll be sure to update you in the next few months about how we're loving/adoring our new addition! Plus, I'm sure you'll be able to see an increase in image quality and picture taking skills because we can actually see what we're shooting now! Click HERE for more info and to purchase this beaut!
