ReBlog: Harper's Bazaar Goes Inside Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi's New York Home

We love Top Chef. We adore Harper's Bazaar. We think Padma rocks. We dissect gorgeous interior images. Combine all four and you'll quickly see why this recent article took our breath away. With a city  apartment whose living room focal point includes a swing and a green velvet couch, these images are sure to entice. She describes her apartment as something of a street fair.

"There's always food, always music and candles and incense. For good or bad, every word, every picture, every taste is mine." - Padma Lakshmi

I mean, aren't these such great words to live by! We adore the fact that she's never hired out for any interior work and a nod to single ladies who put a massive portrait of themselves above their bed. Now that's a force to be reckoned with. Read on, readers...we'll describe to you what designs aspects we adore and why we love her interior layout and personal aesthetic! Enjoy!

An amazing built-in with office/computer space and layers of color categorized books. We also must point out that great throw and bag hanging from her leather chair along with that statement making chandelier.

Living room swing - check! Green velvet couch - check! Gorgeous area rug and fresh flowers galore - check! There's so much we love about this laid back retreat  and color palette.

Check out that large portrait of Lakshmi wearing a red and rather body baring dress painted by her longtime friend Francesco Clemente. Hanging a huge self portrait above your master bed takes guts, courage and confidence galore. Bravo...we love this idea!

We love the idea of decorating a security safe with treasures and trinkets galore.

We were surprised to see a a laid back and not-showy kitchen interior. We were expecting jaw-dropping luxury so the subtlety and user-friendly layout made us smile.

Of course we loved the image of Padma's closet, seeing as our own clothes horse loving ways have us Ikea hacking a wardrobe into added storage HERE in our master. We love her dark wooden hangers and mini accessory dress form draped in numerous necklaces.
