Decorate: DIY - How to Make Easy Wall Art for Your Dog

What is cuter than custom puppy wall art? No really, what?

IMG_5721

So here's what the finished product looks like, above. I knew we had to do some custom wall art for our sweet pumpkin pie yorkie, Zola Belle. Let me explain where the image came from and the process we went through to get there, below.

IMG_5723

First of all, this image is from the front of a card I gave CC Hubby the night before we got Zola. It basically said something like, 'I've loved my life so far with you and I'm beyond excited to add a tiny hairy baby to the brood...you're going to be a great Daddy!" Then I proceeded to bawl my eyes out in the middle of our fancy last dinner and asked him if maybe he'd love the dog more than me! What a nut-job, ha! Zola only makes our life, love and marriage so much better and brighter in a million ways...but it's always hindsight 20/20, right? So there's the explanation behind the image.

So maybe you're wondering how I got the image for the frame? I put the front of the card in my printer/scanner and shrunk it by setting the copy size to 60% normal size. It turned out perfect! I'm positive you can also do this at Kinko's or Office Max so if you don't have this electronic wonder, know you have another option to increase or decrease the copy size. I wanted to make sure her puppy wall art was something that reminded us of her and something special. So here she is, in all her puppy model glory, sitting pretty amongst her minions and new wall art.

Her new art sits right above her bed in our TV room. When CC Hubby got home from work last night I told him he needed to go check above Zola's bed. He replied, "Which one?" (She has three.) When he cruised into the TV room and saw it he laughed his bootie off. He knew the card right away (good man) and even proceeded to ask Zola what she thought (Yes, we talk to her like a human!) She seems very pleased. And just to give you an idea of where the sweet image sits in the room, I've provided you with a few full room pictures below.

Can you see it in the room above? It's way over there in the far corner, right above her bed! It looks beyond adorable and I hope this inspires you, awesome readers, to add a touch of creativity near your dogs bed sometime soon. Maybe you don't have a small piece or art off hand to use. Well, then I think another adorable idea is framing a picture. Maybe it can be of you, the puppy's parent(s). Or another great idea is framing an image of your puppies favorite park to play in. Or do they possibly have a favorite dog friend...that would be really cute to frame a small picture of their best furry buddy. The ideas are limitless but it's definitely a conversation piece! We've totally notice Zola skipping around the house, prancing around a bit taller, because she is loving her new puppy pad decor. Ok, I'll stop.

Enjoy and please tell me the image below makes you laugh! Fierce guard dog...watch out!

Take a second and breeze through more of our DIY projects that we've tackled recently. We can promise you one thing, they are all relatively easy: stylishly display your children's artwork, re-purpose/re-paint a glass and wooden table lamp, how to repaint and reupholster stools, make your own butcher block island, easily frame fabric for chic wall art, frame your love letters, create an art wall background, paint your terra cotta pots or planters and lastly...redesign your master bath with white paint and nickel hardware.
