(Click to Enlarge)Wow, our kitchen has come such a long way since the before pic in the THIS POST. We are so thrilled with our latest DIY project that I just had to share right away. I'm really giddy with excitement! You probably already know that CasCullen fam is still contemplating what eco-conscious countertops to use in the kitchen so in the meantime we thought we'd cross one of our New Years home goals off the list. Buh-bye two-thirds of our first resolution...yay, us!
We've been patiently waiting the doctor's ok for hubby to be off of his crutches...that happened last Wednesday morning and he was busy working on the butcher block, literally, two days later. That boy has an itch for some home improvement and I love every second of it.Instead of boring you with two dozen pics on this post, I decided to incorporate a slideshow for those that are interested in the aforementioned process, below. Aren't the before and after pics above awesome too? (More before and after pics from other great projects HERE.) It's really rewarding to see how it was and then the now.
It's going to be even more amazing when we get a new sink, back-splash and countertops installed...but that will take some time and also more diligently saving some pennies. Remember, we're huge advocates of saving your moolah and not charging your home renovations. So with that fact known, it's a slow process at CasaCullen but always beyond rewarding to see where our hard work/hard earned money adds up to.
Wondering where all the products came from? Well, I have some great hints. The wooden butcher block is actually from IKEA along with the stainless steels legs. We did a ton of research on blocks and ended up going with the IKEA version. It was much more DIY with burnishing and oiling it ourselves and hubby is so hands on so he was up for the challenge.
The best deal of the project was definitely the stools. I had seen them in the Sundance catalog HERE for $245 a pop...yowza, I know. But I knew I loved their rugged and industrial look. I was shoppin the clearance furniture at Overstock.com (do it now) and stumbled upon THESE RIGHT HERE! Ahhh, I screamed, we measured and we got all four for just over $200 (shipping is only $2.49 at Overstock!) That's right, four stools for the price of one in the Sundance catalog...score!
Dear reader, enjoy this great post. Thanks for your support and leave a comment and let me know what you think and even what color counters you think would work well with our color scheme and nearly finished kitchen.
